If you think growing season is over, then think again!
Somewhere about now most of us start thinking about the cold moths ahead as we realize the heat wave we are enjoying today will soon be replaced with bitter cold, rain, winds and snow. Is it the shortened day or the cold nights that give it away? Or the school buses driving back and forth with kids?
Whatever it is that make you think about long months of winter, it is definitely here.
However, being defiant as always, I am actually thrilled to see the season changing. Why?
Not sure if you can remember, but when I started the project, I wanted to grow as many veggies as possible during the regular season. But hey, what kind of an achievement is that? All you need is to plant the seeds, water them and watch them grow. Easy, right?
Here’s the kicker: the whole part when you may have thought I went nuts with this gardening “thing” was just a prelude to the biggest challenge. Growing veggies in the winter as well!
Yeap, I am planning my succession crops for December and January now!
Not only my cold frame will come in handy, but also my mini hoop tunnel, which both just received a new poly covering in preparation for the cold. I am also planning to have some in-ground crops, tucked in for the winter.
This should be interesting….
